I thought it would be appropriate to copy it here.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do you keep a relationship from getting boring, dull, losing the shine? That\u2019s easy. The answer is contained in the question. Don\u2019t let the relationship become a routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not inevitable that relationships become routine. They can remain novel and exciting for decades. They become routine because the people involved choose to make them routine\u2026often without even realizing they\u2019re making a choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You know how Yoda talks about the dark side of the Force?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.morethantwo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"602\" height=\"722\" src=\"https:\/\/www.morethantwo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.morethantwo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image.png 602w, https:\/\/www.morethantwo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-250x300.png 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>How he says it\u2019s faster, easier? That\u2019s a relationship becoming routine. You make little choices every day because doing the same thing today that you did yesterday is just\u2026<em>easier.<\/em>&nbsp;Falling into patterns is just\u2026<em>easier.<\/em>&nbsp;Assuming certain roles that you repeat in the relationship is just\u2026<em>easier.<\/em>&nbsp;You do it without even thinking about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But you don\u2019t have to if you don\u2019t want to. It takes more conscious effort, but you can have a relationship that doesn\u2019t settle into a rut, that stays novel and engaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not everyone wants that, of course. For some people the routine of a relationship is comforting, maybe even part of the point of the relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So that\u2019s where compatibility comes in. If you are a high-threshold, high-novelty seeker, date people like that.
